Types of Turfs

Top Dress: Fescue Turf

This is to add crucial organic nutrients and seed to an existing turf to improve turf health and thickness. This improves the quality of the soil for the turf and allows for water and fertilizer to reach the root zone more effectively.

Crucial things to consider are the type of material used, timing, and application process.

Our Process:

Time of this application

Fall: generally right before aeration and over-seed or right after aeration and over- seed.

Material:

We use certified organic compost from a local source. (80%)
We blend the organic material with a screened topsoil. (10%)
We use certified PGA bunker sand. (10%)
Blue tag certified Fescue seed is mixed at a rate of 25lb per half yard of material
- These materials are blended by us for each top dress application we complete

Process of applying:

We use an Earth and Turf top dress machine so we can control the thickness of the product applied to the turf.
We use a chain drag to work the material into the turf area
We also use hand rakes and leveling rakes to work the product into the turf

Our pricing for this service is based on the square footage of Fescue Turf the customer has and can be tailored to the customers’ wants.

Top Dress: Bermuda Turf or Zoysia Turf

This is to add crucial organic nutrients to existing turf to improve turf health and thickness. This improves the quality of the soil for the turf and allows for water and fertilizer to reach the root zone more effectively.

During the active growing season
After the turf greens up from winter dormancy

Material:

We use certified organic compost from a local source. (100%)

We use Soil 3 from Supper Sod (Reel mowing customers). (100%)

Process of applying:

We use an Earth and Turf top dress machine so we can control the thickness of the product applied to the turf.
We use a chain drag to work the material in to the turf are
We also use hand rakes and leveling rakes to work the product into the turf.

Sand leveling: Bermuda Turf or Zoysia Turf

This helps level the turf area to aid in a more dense turf and aid in prevention of scalping when mowing. This also helps warm season turf grow and thrive. This process lets water and nutrients travel through more loamy soil.

Material:

We use only certified PGA sand and no other mixes or supplements
We do not completely burry the lawn, we believe in lighter applications to allow for better recovery. We slowly level the area over several applications.

We use an Earth and Turf top dress machine so we can control the thickness of the product applied to the turf.
We use a chain drag to work the material into the turf area
We also use hand rakes and leveling rakes to work the product into the turf.
